Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have created the perfect sanctuary for their family in the secluded mountains near Malibu, California. Their retreat is a 25,000 sq ft adobe styled home set on 150 choice acres in the Santa Monica mountains. The couple described the creation of the family retreat as a spiritual endeavor but you can see from the photographs it was a labor of love.
The home is beautifully influenced by strong Moroccan, Asian and Southwestern US artistry and architecture. Building the home required the work of hundreds of master crafters in wood, metal, stone and plaster. In room after room you’ll find handmade furniture and finishes as well as architectural finds they’ve collected from their travels. Jada stated: “We wanted to feel the love and labor that went into every piece of this place.
There is so much I admire about the work of designer and architect Stephen Samuelson in Will and Jada’s family retreat. The design elements accomplish a warm and inviting space that has a feel of nature and history at every turn. The home is not only beautiful, but it’s an intimate, unique and personal space that reflects who they are.
I thought you might like to take a peak. Enjoy!
