I’m just back from my NBA All Star weekend in NOLA that was an absolute blast! So, I thought I’d share with you the sights, sounds, and style of some of the All Stars and the NBA Events. Enjoy!
There was a moment during the team introductions that I actually became teary eyed. On the entertainment stage you had Pharrell WIlliams, P’Diddy, Dr. Buster Rhymes, and many others while on the court on high platforms the East and West NBA All Star teams were being introduced. It was a sea of talented, successful and wealthy young black men being themselves and being embraced and acknowledged for it. It was a beautiful thing. I can see why so many young men aspire to these professions no matter what the odds.
Another story at NBA All Star weekend was the Pop-Up shopping that captured major money that weekend. Once closed retail venues were transformed into chic sneaker and NBA swag havens just for All Star weekend. I visited them all – Jordan Store, House of Hoops, Footlocker, NBA Store and Adidas Store. Saturday morning the sneaker heads were waiting line early for the Jordan Store to open to be the first to snatch up the new shoe releases, and there were many.
